Emma Darwin's Diaries Go Online

The diaries of Emma Darwin, the wife of naturalist Charles Darwin have been published online. The 60 pocket-sized books document six decades of her life with Charles Darwin, giving academics and enthusiasts a new perspective on the scientist.

The diaries begin in 1824 when Emma (then Wedgwood) was 16. She married her cousin, Charles 15 years later and kept a diary until she died. Her perspectives focus on visitors, dinners, and her family life. Emma Darwin’s diaries are available online at http://darwin-online.org.uk/EmmaDiaries.html, published on the same website as the complete works of her husband, which went online last year at http://darwin-online.org.uk.
